FASHION FIXATION

A Paltrow press tour is upon us

The holidays give us so much to be grateful for. Saccharine Hallmark movies. Decadent desserts. And this year, Gwyneth Paltrow’s exceptional press tour looks.

ICYMI, the movie-star-turned-Goop-CEO is back on the big screen, thanks to the highly anticipated Marty Supreme. And while much of the fanfare surrounding the film has been about Timothée Chalamet and his outré aesthetic choices (buzzcut; teeny reading glasses; eye-assaulting orange outfits), today, I’d like to shine a light on the most rewarding (to me) aspect of this entire ordeal: Gwyneth Paltrow’s red carpet return.

Think what you may about Paltrow, but the woman knows how to dress. (She turned a mundane ski-crash court trial into a quiet luxury campaign, after all.) And in recent weeks, she’s been re-exhibiting her talent for press-tour finery. If you know nothing else about Marty Supreme, you’ve likely come across its intense orange hue. For her promotional appearances, Paltrow has skillfully Goop-ified the film’s carrot-y colour palette, resulting in a masterclass in Gwyneth-esque simplicity.

Below are the three styling lessons we can glean from Paltrow’s press tour—which I'm taking with me into the holiday season.

The effortless hair tuck

For the NYC premiere of Marty Supreme this week, Paltrow deviated from the film’s vibrant orange hue for a custom all-black Valentino gown. The look is made all the more sophisticated by her hair, tucked into a messy ponytail with a few front pieces framing her face.

It might be the simplest look on the red carpet, but it oozes seasoned movie-star grace. What’s more, she coordinated with her daughter Apple Martin, who re-wore one of Paltrow’s iconic Calvin Klein numbers from the ‘90s. So really, two looks in one.

The low-effort, high-impact matching set

Nothing says you’ve got it all together like a satisfyingly cohesive top and bottom. From a tweed suiting co-ord to glossy pink separates, Paltrow has leaned into the deceivingly easy-to-wear ensemble.

Timeless, functional, polished but also pared back, let this be a sign for us all to lean into festive, monochromatic magic.

The wild card

Just when people think they’ve got you all figured out—as a bone-broth sipper who wears only butter-y cashmere—boom. Hit them with the unexpected: in Paltrow’s case, the XL bright orange tracksuit, courtesy of Lacoste Spring 2026. Worn for an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the suit’s white piping gave it a distinctly athletic finish, while her pointy-toe pumps rounded it out with some polish.

Even in this most bewildering outfit, Paltrow looked at ease discussing Goop’s holiday product offerings—from a dry brush to body butter. A woman of business! This holiday season, I’m feeling extra appreciative of our multifaceted style savant.

WHAT WE WROTE ABOUT

  • In HBO's I Love LA, the Gen Z costume design is very intentional.
  • All the best things our editors bought in 2025.
  • Boozy fragrances are trending, you say? Tickle me intrigued.

WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT

Season 5 of Emily in Paris is here, and I am ready to admit that I’m an unironic fan. This time around, our favourite flamboyant PR exec is in Rome, getting a taste of Italian fashion. Case in point: Fendi has partnered with the show on a capsule collection featuring three bags adorned with playful polka dots and FF motifs. It’s a fitting collab, as the luxury House—and its iconic Baguette—also makes a notable cameo in the show. Happy viewing. 🥖
